Graphic Designer & Photographer

Having an artist for a father, I developed a love of art and design at a very young age.

I first took an interest in photography at the age of 12 and went on to become a studio portrait photographer.

When my father took his artistic talents in to the digital world, I followed suit and immediately fell in love with it.

Since then I have completed an HNC in Graphic Design, worked for 6 years as a graphic designer at FTSE100 company Sage (UK) Limited and am now a designer at Chain Reaction Cycles, the ‘World’s largest online bike store.’

  • “Creativity is intelligence having fun.”
    Albert Einstein

I am a highly motivated, skilled and customer orientated graphic design professional with vast experience in the industry, delivering design, media and communication projects for clients operating across an array of sectors internationally.

I have strong design management experience, from conception through to completion; I am adept in the formulation and execution of design projects with strong technical expertise, delivered through a professional and diligent approach.

With a background encompassing various team leading and management roles, I am able to build effective relationships at all levels with colleagues, clients and partners. I am commercially minded; accustomed to delivering strategic design direction for brand development.

I have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal and can adapt my style to a wide range of business stakeholders. This makes me more than capable of building excellent external relationships on all levels of organisations. My people skills make it easy for me to integrate seamlessly in to any team or organisation with the ability to work autonomously.

Graphic Design

When it’s essential to be a little bit OCD.

I see things in a way that others don’t.

Project Management

Led business-wide projects across Sage. (And business-wide within Sage affects 1500+ people…)

People Management

In addition to my 17 core staff I managed 10-20 academy staff and their training / coaching / sign-off.

Lindsey is a fantastic girl who will go to the ends of the earth to please her client. She is creative and obliging and will often present an idea so much better and innovative in design than you ever thought about. I would use Lindsey for any design I ever needed in the future.

Julie Connell : Editor of Purehome NI

Having worked with Lindsey for several years, what stands out is her attention to detail and an outstanding intuitive understanding of the clients’ needs. Her professionalism and an unswerving eagerness to surpass customer expectations, plus a warm friendly customer centric approach, will ensure you can trust the job will be in safe hands.

Darren Colligan : Print & Design Manager, Sage (UK) Ltd

As a student Lindsey proved to be dedicated and intuitive, tackling every assignment with a total professionalism that belied her years. She has gained top honours in her HNC. Her cooperative spirit, and research skills has meant Lindsey produced first class work, and I expect Lindsey to continue to be a real achiever and will no doubt advance to the top of the design profession. Her ability to think outside the box means she can resolve difficult design issues, adding another dimension to her work. She has demonstrated excellent leadership qualities and her pleasant nature means she is able to direct, encourage and support others with an insight that gains their collaboration. I have no doubts that I will hear about Lindsey in the future.

Creative Lead - Northgate plc

2017 to present

I am responsible for all things creative at Northgate and their subsidiary company, Van Monster.

I deliver graphic design for the usual Marketing needs; printed materials such as catalogues and brochures, creating visuals and infographics for blogs, updating corporate websites, email campaign templates, POS and external signage for retail sites, livery for vehicles and any other requests that come in from across the business.

Within a month of starting my role I had sourced and developed excellent working relationships with printers for all of our needs, as well as creative agencies for when design resource is tight.

It is important to me that everything in the business looks amazing, so I am more than happy to support other areas in any way I can. For the I.T. Development team I create wireframes for UI platforms, I utilise my photography skills across both businesses, and help colleagues out when they just need to make a PPT presentation look better for a tender presentation.

I’m the person in the background that no one on the outside sees. But I’m the reason they like what they see.

Graphic Designer - Chain Reaction Cycles

2014 to 2017

I couldn’t write a ‘day-in-the-life’ at Chain Reaction, simply because today in this office was so very different from yesterday.

I am a designer in CRC’s House Brands department – we look after ten in-house brands from conception to finished product.

We design literally everything for these brands – advertising campaigns (print and web,) websites, exhibition stands, POS, catalogues, packaging, upkeep of social media sites, merchandising materials, clothing (casual and team,) branded team vehicles – the list goes on. But our most important job is the products themselves – we design all graphics for bikes and components.

Senior Graphic Designer - Sage (UK) Limited

My design role at Sage was three-fold.

On one side I had the Sage brand:
– Developing the brand and being a Brand Ambassador
– Maintaining brand guidelines
– Training others in the brand and ensuring consistency
– Creating templates for others eg. Word, Powerpoint, Excel that were ‘On Brand’

For my internal customers:
– Developing corporate identities for individual teams throughout the business
– Brochures and packaging for each new software release
– Design of training materials, both printed and online
– Exhibition stand design

For external customers:
– Developing corporate identities for new businesses
– Creating and updating brand designs for existing businesses
– Creating artwork for all aspects of their business, from letterheads to brochures to catalogues

Before my Graphic Design days I was a Team Manager at Sage:
• Responsible for 17 direct reports (core staff)
• In addition I managed between 10-20 Academy staff
• Coaching the team, and Academy, assessing their training needs
• Writing and presenting training sessions
• Monthly one-to-one discussions held with each team member, assisting in their personal development
• Developed and implemented a 3-year operational plan for the department

Studio Photographer - Olan Mills

I ran the studio in Gateshead, producing exceptional portraits. Having the eye for photography is one thing – bigger than that is building rapport with customers, adults and children alike, to make them comfortable in front of the camera.

Pushing the boundaries of the company’s framework, I was instrumental in moving the business forward by testing, presenting and implementing a new way of taking photographs, resulting in huge financial gain for the business.
